* A raise in early position signals a strong hand. Often I like to play my AK the same way I play small pairs: I make the hand or I don’t. Getting it all in with AK preflop, especially in a calling position, isn’t winning poker, not in the long run. A slightly shaky hand or throbbing neck vein cannot be controlled by a player and is a good indicator of excitement. Don’t be hasty to believe the obvious attempts at acting. Instead look for the instinct reactive twitches that tell a story about a player’s hand.
