Online Payroll Services

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Many companies find payroll to be monotonous and taxing. This is so because of the many government authorities- federal, state and local– who tax payrolls in America, plus the numerous unions, banks and credit unions, and health insurance plans that people can barely keep up with. Online payroll services help eliminate the stress and confusion related to payroll processing. One of the best benefits of submitting payroll online is the speed, precision and safety of the process.

Submitting payroll was never made easier or, in some instances, even fun. Welcome to the world of online accounting!

Completing your payroll online is quick and economical. Checks, previews and reports can be printed from anybody’s desktop. The company on the other side of this online payroll interface will provide the customer with hard copies or reports and paychecks, which if asked for can be personally delivered. The final payroll reports will be sent to the company via email within two hours or less of entering the relevant data.

Online payroll processing resolves the issue surrounding storage space and paper wastage. Besides, a password-protected website will assure the customer of total professional confidentiality. These online payroll services also include 401(K) administration.

What exactly is a 401(K)? It is a type of retirement plan offered by the employer. The idea is to let the employee decide what amount from the paycheck should be deducted and sent towards the plan before federal taxes are cut. Some employers offer what is known as the “company match”, which essentially means money towards your retirement from the company in addition to the individual’s own contribution. Each employee can then choose the mode of investment for these contributions, depending on the choices available in the 401(K) plan.

On retirement, the employee winds up with all the money initially put in and the additional earning on investments, with tax deductions. What this online payroll services then does is automatically withhold, on request, funds from paychecks, and proceed to compute the employer’s share of matching funds.

These 401(K) funds will be transferred in any way that the customer wants, even if it means payment to a third-party dealer via ACH transfer or wire transfer. To make it still easier, the online payroll service provides the customer with a thorough breakdown of how money from each check is distributed into their employees’ 401(K) accounts.

Payroll Services provides detailed information on Payroll Services, Online Payroll Services, Payroll Processing Services, Full Payroll Services and more. Payroll Services is affiliated with Payroll Outsourcing Services.

Gladness

~ Gladness ~

Glory and honour are in his presence; strength and gladness are in his place. Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice: and let men say among the nations, The LORD reigneth.

And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

The Jews had light, and gladness, and joy, and honour. And in every province, and in every city, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a good day.

Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High. Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.

My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.

With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king’s palace.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall trust in him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.

O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.

But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.

Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.

The LORD reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof. Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O LORD.

Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing, and wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.

My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.

Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them. And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness: Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. They that fear thee will be glad when they see me; because I have hoped in thy word.

A Song of degrees of David.
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

The proverbs of Solomon.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother. Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice.

Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth: My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.

Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.

Go forth, O ye daughters of Zion, and behold king Solomon with the crown wherewith his mother crowned him in the day of his espousals, and in the day of the gladness of his heart. And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel.

The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

And Hezekiah was glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.

For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.

But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy. Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her.

For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD … Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls.

Then was the king exceeding glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.

Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

And the LORD God prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shadow over his head, to deliver him from his grief. So Jonah was exceeding glad of the gourd.

Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.

And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall rejoice as through wine: yea, their children shall see it, and be glad; their heart shall rejoice in the LORD. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly. And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth. And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him, And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found. And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

And we declare unto you glad tidings, how that the promise which was made unto the fathers, God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.

What next for Worlds Premier Oil Giant

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

It’s time for the oil giant to wave goodbye to Peter Sutherland , its Irish chairman, but what does someone who has already run the World Trade Organisation move onto next?

Peter Sutherland was not in a great mood on Monday morning: the day after his native country’s loss to Argentina in the Rugby World Cup, he could scarcely contain himself. He’d been present at the game at Parc des Princes with his children and words such as “suicidal” and “bejesus” spilled forth from his lips.

Yesterday, he was on the Eurostar, travelling back to Paris, for a meeting that was part politics and part business. Such are the contrasting worlds of Sutherland: Dubliner, father of three, huge rugby enthusiast, chairman of BP, chairman of Goldman Sachs International, new chairman of the London School of Economics, diplomatic fixer and afterdinner speaker extraordinaire.

If when we reach the gates of heaven we are presented with a choice I’d like to come back as a smart Irishman. In the past, I might have said an English aristocrat but it’s the Irish who are in charge now. They seem to be in charge of everything. The epitome of this is Sutherland, a key figure in two business powerhouses and a millionaire many times over, thanks to his partnership at Goldman. But he’s served for a decade at BP and has begun the search for someone to take the reins. Suddenly, the oil major has to confront life without him .

You only have to talk to anyone at the top of BP, these past few years to realise what a powerhouse behind the scenes Sutherland has been. While the company has had its problems in America, they have been operational. On personnel matters, notably the attempt by Lord Browne and his friends to get the chief executive’s term extended, and then Browne’s departure following his lying under oath, Sutherland has played a pivotal role. His contribution in bringing BP forward is something which few can dispute.

Purchase Plumber Public Liability Insurance via the Internet

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

With the claims culture increasing all over the world, possessing professional indemnity cover is turning out to be ever more and more essential. If you don’t at present have public liability insurance incorporated into your building cover, then now is probably the instance to look into obtaining better cover. Here is some recommendations about why you need cover, and what to pay attention to. Find public liability insurance in uk.

What is public liability cover: Professional Indemnity cover is an insurance contract that protects you from claims that other individuals may well make against you in the chance of an accident. If somebody damages their belongings or harms themselves in or around your property or business then the public liability insurance will shelter you for any compensation claims that may well happen. Cover generally ranges from two-hundred and fifty pounds up to one million pounds.

What are you covered for: Insurance will insure protect against accidents or loss that other individuals may endure in or around your residence or organisations site. You are covered against claims from robbers and damages that could occur to anyone from falling objects or workforce carrying out repairs. If a mishap occurs on your premises & someone claims against you, your cover will support you to pay any expenses.

What’s included Numerous contents or property insurance covers enclose in-built liability insurance. You would be advised to check with your insurance firm whether this is the case, and what level of cover you have. Even if the insurance is already included, you should ensure that you are suitably covered for any likely accidents that may perhaps happen.

Premiums: The premiums that you are expected to have to pay depend on the sort of cover you want. If you simply protect your home, then the costs are very likely to be lower than if you are covering a business. Although, premiums are fairly cheap for the amount of cover that you receive & its as a result important for anyone running an organisation.

What makes a good website?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I frequent a number of web design and search engine optimization
discussion forums. Almost all of them have a topic where people
can submit their website for review and critiquing. The topic
attracts many people that are new to web design, and just want
to know what professional web designers think of their work.
Others are posting their URL, just to hear some reassurance from
people that they are doing a good job. In any case, the results
almost always end with vast ideas and opinions. Everything from
pats on the back to structured criticism and sometimes even some
not so nice criticism are offered. The reality is, everyone has
a different opinion of what a website should look like, but
there are some things that should be considered in all
websites.

It really doesn’t matter if a website has a flashy header, or
even if it has fancy drop down menus that make a little noises
when the mouse hovers over them. As long as the visitor of the
site stays long enough to gather whatever is offered to them,
then the website is considered successful.

There is a lot of research available on what attracts visitors
to a website, and what makes them stay once they get there. The
result of most of the research indicates that most people prefer
similar basic concepts in a website’s design. Anything else that
is added to a website can actually be detrimental to the overall
plan of the site. This is not to say that web designers should
stop producing sites that amaze us with their use of things like
color, animation, and creative ideas for layout. What it does
mean is that a website should be designed with some key features
in mind.

A website should be fast loading – Despite what some
would believe, there is still a great deal of the population
using dial up internet service. Most people don’t want to wait
more than a few seconds on a page to load. If a page is going to
take too long for those people to load, they will simply use the
back button and leave. That is a huge number of visitors that
you can simply write off. Think of the potential buys that you
just sacrificed just to keep your favorite song playing in the
background.

Make a website easy to navigate – It will not help you
sell your product, if your visitors cannot find it. Your website
navigation should be clear and easy to follow. Too many links
scattered around will only confuse and drive your visitors away.
Your main navigation should all be located in the same place on
each page. If they found a certain page by clicking on a menu
located in the left side of the page, then that is where they
are going to look first when they decide to go to another
page.

Don’t use too much animation – Placing too much animation
on a page, will not only slow down the time it takes a person to
open the page, but it will also focus their attention on the
animation and not your product. The idea is for them to see the
product, read about it, and then buy it. If you divert their
attention from that plan, they will lose interest very
quickly.

Split up long pages – Adding too much content to a single
page will only cause your visitors to stop reading it. People do
not mind clicking on a “Next” button. It gives them a little
rest period while reading. What they do mind is scrolling 10
pages down just to find what they are looking for. Besides, more
pages on a site equal more content, and more of a chance to use
some anchor text. Search engines love that stuff, and anything
you can do to suit search engines and customers at the same
time, should always be taken advantage of. Including about
600-800 words in a page’s main body is considered normal.

Make your text readable by everyone – Many new designers
do not realize that a browser will only display a font style, if
that font is installed on the user’s computer. So, if you are
considering using some fancy font that you found while surfing
the Internet, think again. If I do not have that font installed
on my machine, my browser will display something entirely
different. It may be a different size, style, bold, or even too
small to read. Use a font that is easy to read, and is normally
standard on all systems. Such fonts as Arial, Times New Roman,
Verdana, and Helvetica, are all fonts that most computers will
already have, and are commonly used in website text.

Make them search engine friendly – Let’s face it. If
people do not find your website, you are not going be very
successful on the net. Creating a website that is search engine
friendly, and optimizing your website for search engines will be
well worth the trouble. Most people rely on search engines to
bring them the bulk of their visitors, and if you don’t do well
in a search engine, you may be looking at some very costly forms
of advertising to make up the difference in traffic.

The result that we all want from our websites is directly
affected by how people perceive our design. If it confuses them
or makes navigation difficult, they won’t stay long and you will
lose a potential customer. Keeping a website easy to use and
looking professional is they key to success. In today’s internet
world, designers are coming up with new ideas and creating some
fantastic looking websites. As long as the visitor feels
comfortable on the site, they will stay and maybe even take
something with them when they leave.

Monte Bianco Increases in Size from 2001 According to Experts

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Current detailed Global Positioning System readings taken on the 13-14th October have proven that Mount Blanc measures 4810.4 meters. Monte-Bianco is covered by a heavy ice-cap which has thickened by 2.8 meters in only 2 years but more surprising the amount of the ice has almost doubled . At any rate that is as reported by the experts.

The bulk of ice was figured for the inaugural time in 2001. It measured 14700 cubic metres higher than 4750 metres. It amounted to just 13500 cubic metres in 2002 maybe owing to the heat with plus temperature as high as 4950 m elevation. Moreover the ice cap has just about doubled since then and today amounts to 22000 metres cubed.

Chamonix Mont Blanc’s reputable local weather man Charles Hill explained the growth in the size of the ice-cap is among the contrary consequences of global warming: Snowfall has not grown generally in the Alpes but with global warming we are having a lot of hot prevailing westerly winds which bestow rainfall lower down however in summertime this results in significant snowfall that settles higher up than 4000 metres elevation thus the volume of the ice-cap is growing. Contrast this to the state of affairs in winter time where snow crystals are very cold and are transported by air currents and so do not settle down on the top.

How to Choose the Correct Web Host

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Hello, my name is Will Wilder. I’ve been in in the business of web design since 1999. I have had some pretty awful experiences with web hosts, as well as some excellent ones which resulted in nice looking websites! So I hope that this will help you avoid running into the problems with crappy web hosts and help you know which ones are the best.

Quality web hosting is the most important part of creating a website. It is usually the one thing that will make or break a website. So realize that if you don’t choose your web host carefully, you could end up spending a lot of money for a poorly looking site. And it’s not like “Oh, I’ll switch next month,” or anything like that. Most web hosts require you to make a comittment of at least a year, sometimes longer. So how do you tell which ones are worth buying? First, you must understand what a quality web host SHOULD offer… to see the rest, go to this site: http://www.internetproductsreview.com/_mgxroot/page_10734.html

Circles On The Water – The Impact You Make On People’s Lives

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

When you were a child, or maybe even when you were older, did you ever toss a pebble into the water and watch the ripples that emanated from the point where it broke the surface? Or watched the effect of raindrops falling on a body of water? I have done these things and have since found myself pondering on this process, and just how much it can be compared to our lives.

The pebble splashes in the water and affects the surface surrounding it. A circular ripple spreads outwards and in turn produces another and another and so on. Have you noticed also, that just how far this effect travels is dependant on the magnitude of the impact of that initial pebble? As you read this, take a moment to consider yourself as being that pebble.

You may make more of an impact on people’s lives than you think. When I say “people’s lives”, you can include your own. The impact you make in any territory, whether it be yours or that of others around you, helps to determine what I would describe here as: circles of destiny.

You may perhaps have seen a photograph portraying the ability of flash photography to capture movement and freeze it in time. I am thinking particularly about a photography that shows something being dropped into a pool of milk. That initial impact of the object being dropped causes a “crown” to form as the milk splashes upward with a ridge having milky “jewels” suspended above it. As that “ridge” falls back to the surface, the radiating circles begin to commence their motion. This is the more dominant radiating force, but in the meantime, the milky jewels also land back upon the surface with each of those giving birth to their radiating existence. Such results commence a dance with multiple circles of destiny.

Logically, before you were conceived in the womb, you had no effect on anyone or anything upon this earth. From the moment you were conceived however, your very existence began to cause an impact not just on other people, but on life and human development too as interaction, cause, and effect, began. During such early years, you of course, had little if any control on such interactions and reactions of those to your existence. You might have protested with the odd kick or two, but that was about your lot until you were born.

As the years passed and you grew to the point where you could readily communicate with those around you, your impact on society took a more earnest stride, but let us leap forward to another time…now.

How do you feel about the impact you have on the lives of others from day to day? Do you recognize that impact? Are you happy with the impact or effect you have on others? There are those amongst us who would like to be considered as more significant and yet others who would rather not be in the limelight and just quietly live out their lives. The odd thing is, that even by quietly living out your life behind the scenes as it were, you still have an impact on those who know or who are aware of you. There is no getting away from it – we are all at the centre of our own ripple effect. How much of an effect we have though, is dependent on two factors: force and resistance.

If I were to drop a “Water Boatman” insect on the surface of a pool, it would happily scoot around on the surface and not sink once! If I jumped onto the surface of the same pool, I would do very little scooting around unless it was on the bottom of the pool! My impact on the poor Water Boatman would be pretty severe!

At the point of impact, there is always resistance – a result of surface tension. It gives way dependent on the force exerted. How much impact you have on the life of another is dependent entirely on your approach i.e. how much weight you put behind it, how much insistence; how much determination.

People do not always want help. They do not always want to feel of the impact you may provide, no matter how good or well intended it might be. The trouble is that once you have launched yourself in this way, you cannot retract it. Like it or not an impact will occur, all that you can do is attempt to lessen it. So how do you go about lessening the impact you are making on someone’s life? There you are, already launched. How are you going to restrain the impact?

I recall watching a film a while ago, in which some overeager person hit a missile launch button. The missile was enroute to target when it was realized that it was a mistake! What’s the more, the self-destruct button failed to initialise the onboard sequence. They had two choices left open to them – evacuate or use another missile to destroy the first that was launched manually from an aircraft.

So what are your options if your “missile” has been launched and you want to avoid the impact or at least lessen it? They are as follows:

1. Send an auto-destruct sequence – can you say or do something that will stop the “missile” in its tracks and thus prevent any impact?

2. Manually destroy the “missile” -Can you say or do anything that will cause any previous situation to be totally dissipated or deflected out of harms way?

3. Lesson the impact – What can you say or do that although will not prevent the impact, so that it will cause the least amount of damage possible?

4. Evacuate the area of impact – Can you move the target so that although they are aware and damage may be done, lives are salvaged?

Personal impact is not all bad though. Notice how the ripple of impact in fluid (and even in some examples of solid impact), does not change the matter itself but simply the form the matter takes and the direction it takes. Ripples in liquid, form circular ridges flowing outward, in line with the strength of impact. In people’s lives, we often cause ripples that do not change the character themselves necessarily, but do affect their direction and strength. An important factor to understand here is that such affects may be for good or bad. We all need to offload our cares and trials from time to time, and when we do this, it makes us feel good. We feel so much lighter for doing so. Our problem or concerns may not be solved, but somehow we just feel better for doing so. It is good to have friends who can share our burdens. It is important though to remember that our friends too will have their own concerns. What’s more your problems will be a concern to them simply because they are your friends! Oh dear! Does this mean that we should not really be burdening our friends with issues in our lives? No not all. What it means is that we all need buffer zones. We, if you like, make ourselves targets for points of impact for each other.

Impact upon the lives of others exists as natural fact. How we deal with the impacts when they occur is softened by the simple task of listening to each other. Being the listening ear – providing the shoulder can sometimes be all that is required. You may not be a “professional” in dealing with the problems of others, but one thing you can be – one thing that really lessens the impact of less thinking people upon people you know – you can be their friend – their true friend. Your impact then really does change people’s lives. It changes them for the better. Go and be a friend, play a part in their “circles of destiny”.

Allergies: The Ayurvedic Answer

In a healthy body, the allergic response serves to protect against invasion by harmful agents. Secretions and inflammation help our immune cells get into the affected tissue, dilute the toxic agent and help wash it away. “Allergies” become a health problem when an excessive and unwanted allergic response occurs to particles that are part of our normal environment and are not actually dangerous to the body.

Some individuals are born with allergies, and have a genetic susceptibility to them. However, most allergies are acquired after birth. While inborn allergies can often be helped by the measures discussed in this article, acquired allergies are generally more responsive to such behavioral approaches, and are the main focus of this article.

The Main Cause of Allergies

Although pollen, dust, dander, trees and other allergens are the trigger for allergies in susceptible people, they are not the underlying cause. Many people are exposed to these substances every day without developing allergic reactions. Rather, it is the inner condition of the body that determines whether an allergic response results from exposure to an allergen.

According to Maharishi Ayurveda, allergies result when the body has accumulated excess wastes, toxins and impurities. How does this happen? According to Ayurvedic theory, improperly digested foods (called ama), and impurities, such as chemical additives, are absorbed into the body, travel through the circulation and lodge in the respiratory tissues, skin and other tissues prone to allergy. These accumulated wastes and toxins block the channels, trapping the toxins inside the tissues, and activating the immune system. When additional allergens such as pollen or dust arrive on the scene, the already irritated immune system goes into “high gear,” creating the symptoms of an allergy attack.

Symptoms will vary depending on the tissue that has accumulated the toxic waste (ama visha.). If the tissue involved is the digestive tract, diarrhea can result. If in the skin, a rash or hives may occur. And if the respiratory tract is involved, sneezing, inflammation and mucous drainage will occur.

Since the source of allergies lies with our diet and digestion, adopting a proper diet and improving digestion are “job one” in the fight against allergies. Next, it is valuable to use internal cleansing regimens to reduce the clogging and accumulated impurities.

Recommended Diet for Allergies

The main dietary and eating guidelines for allergies are as follows.

1. Eat the largest meal of the day at lunch, between 12:00 and 1:00 PM, when your digestion is strongest. The sun– the heat element in nature– enlivens agni, the fire of digestion and metabolism, making our digestion strongest at the height of the day. Ayurveda recommends eating the largest meal when you are most capable of digesting it.

2. Avoid eating heavy meals in the evening. The single biggest contribution to toxins and clogging in the body comes from eating heavy evening meals, particularly after 7 PM. Since digestion is much weaker in the evening, it is vital to eat lighter, more easily digested meals at that time. Eat a warm, freshly cooked vegetarian evening meal without fried foods, desserts, cheese, yogurt or other curdled products, since these are heavy for digestion and cause more blockage, congestion and mucous.

3. Eat warm food. Warm food is much easier to digest than cold food. Ayurveda recommends we eat fresh warm food, freshly prepared. Avoid micro-waving, which has been shown to destroy over 90% of the protective antioxidants in the food. Also, avoid cold drinks, ice cream, frozen yogurt and other cold foods.

4. Avoid leftovers. Once food has been heated and then gets put back in the refrigerator it becomes hard to digest and very clogging in nature.

5. Avoid excessively hot spices, sour and acidic foods. These foods are irritating to the body and promote inflammation, according to Ayurveda. Many people experience their allergies become worse when they eat foods with chilis, tomato sauces, hard or aged cheeses, refined sugar and sweets, and acidic foods. Bell pepper, eggplant and potato should also be avoided due to their channel-clogging effects.

6. Do include detoxifying spices in your daily diet. Turmeric in particular has anti-allergy, immune-balancing effects. Coriander helps to detoxify on a cellular level; fennel cools and balances; ginger helps the digestion and dissolves ama, and black pepper clears the channels and increases bioavailability of nutrients. Make a spice mixture of 6 parts fennel, cumin and coriander, 4 parts turmeric and 1 part each of ginger and black pepper. Freshly grind the spices, sauté them in a pan without oil until lightly browned, and put in a small airtight container. Carry them with you and sprinkle _ to 1 tsp. on your food at each meal, and cook with them when at home.

7. Do sip boiled warm or hot water about every half hour during the day around the change of seasons, to help your body purify and to support good digestion.

Behavioral Approaches to Reducing Allergies

Diet is not the only consideration in allergies. Ayurvedic theory also recommends the following behavioral changes to help tone down the allergic response.

1. Go to bed by 10:00 P.M. Between 10 PM and 2 AM, the body performs a natural cycle of internal cleansing. If we stay up after 10 PM, we interfere with this metabolic “house cleaning” and toxins and impurities begin to accumulate. Worse yet, the metabolic activity of cleansing tends to trigger hunger, and we may be tempted to indulge in the proverbial “midnight snack.” Unfortunately, eating after 10 PM further compromises the cleansing process and leads to even more waste accumulation, and more allergy tendency. On the other hand, going to bed by 10 PM improves the overall rejuvenative quality of sleep. You will find that your early bedtime habit helps not only your allergies, but your energy and complexion as well!

2. Cleanse the body before the allergy season. The traditional Ayurvedic answer to allergies includes purifying the body of ama and toxins before allergy season begins to prevent symptoms from arising at all. This internal cleansing may be done at home or, more thoroughly, through in-residence cleansing treatments called panchakarma or Maharishi Rejuvenation Therapy.

3. Have a regular routine of life. Eating, sleeping, working and exercising at about the same time each day is very balancing and stabilizing to the immune system and to the body as a whole. Allergies tend to be aggravated when routine of life is hectic and scattered.

4. Practice Yoga asanas and meditation. Yogas asanas and meditation are very balancing to all aspects of mind and body and have been used by many people to reduce allergy symptoms. For meditation, I suggest the TM technique because of its ease of practice and scientific verification.

Summary

The best approach to allergies is to focus on good eating habits, practice stress reduction and do natural cleansing before the allergy season.

A Denton Texas advocate won from a lawyer in Beaverton Oregon

Friday, December 26th, 2008

For example it would not be illegal to consider criteria for a particular role in a movie that has a disparate impact on age if the part calls for someone of a particular age. It then used those totals to decide who to lay off. Specifically the jury found that although the plaintiffs did not prove that Knolls intentionally discriminated against them they did prove that Knolls method of deciding who to lay off disproportionately harmed older workers. It has the burden to prove that its decision was based on a reasonable factor other than age. The Supreme Court then agreed to hear the case and eventually reversed the Second Circuit and reinstated the jurys finding that Knolls policy unlawfully discriminated because of age. As long as the adverse action is based on reasonable factors other than age. Knolls totaled those scores and gave the employees additional points based on their years of service. Twenty-eight of those 15 employees sued under the ADEA claiming Knolls illegally fired them because of their age. In that case Meacham versus Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory the Supreme Court interpreted a provision of the ADEA that permits an employer to take an adverse employment action against an employee. A lawyer from Uden won from a lawfirm in Carmel Indiana The BFOQ defense states that it is not unlawful for an employer to take adverse employment actions otherwise prohibited by the ADEA where age is a bona fide occupational qualification reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the particular business. The company had its supervisors rate their subordinates based on their performance flexibility and critical skills. The United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit initially affirmed the jurys findings but after the United States Supreme Court asked it to reconsider the Second Circuit reversed itself and ruled in favor of Knolls. Even if the employment action is otherwise prohibited by the ADEA. In other words the ADEA permits employers to discriminate based on age considering age is legitimately necessary under the circumstances. At the trial a jury found Knolls had violated the ADEA because its layoff procedure had a disparate impact based on age. Thirty of the 50 salaried employees the company laid off were at least 31 years old. In reaching its conclusion that the employer has the burden to prove the reasonable factors other than age defense the Supreme Court looked at another provision of the ADEA the bona fide occupational qualification defense. The Supreme Court has previously recognized that the employer has the burden to establish the BFOQ affirmative defense. In Meacham Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory was planning to lay off a number of employees. The Supreme Court ruled that if an employer seeks to rely on that defense.
